“God, send me more kids!”

It's Halloween. I've relocated to a friend's house because she gets way more Trick or Treaters in her cul-de-sac than I do at my home. I've put up non-spooky decorations on the cul-de-sac sign and the letterbox to make sure that I attract any kids Trick or Treating in this area to get one of my treat packs.

Why? Well, I'm on a mission. My treat packs contain lollies AND a life saving message - THE GOSPEL. Firstly, I want to give the Gospel to as many kids as possible. Secondly, I want to mobilize The Church in Evangelism.

It all started thirty years ago. I was a young woman, living at home on the outskirts of Palmerston North. There were no Trick or Treaters coming to our door. I wasn't involved in any kids ministry. I wasn't involved in evangelism. But every year I would get the same thought loud and clear - Halloween is an opportunity to give the Gospel to kids Trick or Treating. It took me most of the next ten years to get mobilized. Each year I perfected my packs. While childless and attending a large church in Auckland I arranged for thousands of packs to be assembled. Church members took home the number of packs that they estimated they could give out to kids Trick or Treating on their street. The year we made up four thousand packs I came under huge spiritual attack and I realised that I should have arranged prayer cover. After the arrival of my own children, I left packs in a basket on my doorstep for Trick or Treaters while I took my kids to Light Parties. Now that my children are older, I can return to focusing on my mission.

“God, send me more kids!”

Twenty kids come through. I'm excited but I want more.

“God, send me more kids!”

Forty, sixty. The numbers keep rising. The kids are excited and grateful to receive my little packs. They are dressed in scary costumes but their politeness catches my attention. They say thank you and are looking out for houses displaying decorations so that they don't disturb people not taking part in Halloween.

“God, send me more kids!”

I end my evening with a total of eighty Gospel containing treat packs given out.
