Kale’s summation of how he came to Jesus
I feel I need to start by saying this: For a very long time I was in a constant dark place, being pretty much on death’s doorstep. I also had been struggling with drugs and was addicted since I was 13. I was very angry, violent and suicidal and I was also messing with the occult. To sum up, I was just waiting to die really.
Then one day I had a conviction to just read my Bible because I was just sick of living the way I was. (I was raised Christian but fell away and never really followed Jesus.) As I was reading my Bible on the porch, my sister called out to me and said, “Kale, come here, come listen to this person, he’s talking about Jesus.” I didn’t know who it was but he was in his car over the fence from me (it was my neighbour Chris) so we sat behind the fence listening to Chris and what he was speaking about was powerful and convicting, so much so, that I just felt this overwhelming urge to go and talk to him, almost like my spirit knew it was now or never. So I walked down his driveway and as I got to him, I just stopped and was stunned. He wound his window down and said, “Hey bro,” and I just said to him “My name is Mikael and I’m addicted to drugs and I need Jesus.” He got out of the car and with excitement said, ‘This is awesome bro, and this is God saying choose whom this day you shall serve,’ and he said that he was willing to walk alongside me. So, from that day, I started hanging out with Chris and then about a month later he asked me if I was serious about following Christ and if so, when am I getting baptised, to which I said; today. I ended up getting baptised that day after church in his bathtub and it also happened to be my Mum’s birthday so that made it extra special.
I was still struggling with drugs at this point, however, the Sunday after I got baptised, I got some powerful prayer and I got delivered from my drug addiction that night when I had an encounter with God and also got delivered of a demonic attachment that I had from messing with the occult which caused me constant night terrors and not being able to sleep. I feel so blessed to have come back to the Lord the way I did and being delivered of things I genuinely thought were going to be what was going to send me to my grave.
Chris discipling Kale
I started discipling Kale and we caught up frequently. He was hungry for the Word and to grow in Christ. The discipleship was a vital, important and biblical step to making sure he had built his faith on a solid foundation. I made sure that Kale was grounded on the Rock that is Christ and was presenting him with good habits to strengthen his faith so that, “in six months or a year etc,” I said, “I don’t want to see you back in the world (Matthew 7:24-25). If that happens, I have not done my part successfully as your teacher and friend.” Long story short, after a year of consistent discipleship, Kale is now a mature believer. He was hungry and this is the result of true hunger to grow in the Lord (Matthew 5:6). Anyone who knew Kale before and sees him now can testify that he is a totally different person with many things no longer prevalent in his life. HALLELUJAH!
The jackets
Kale and I decided to get the jackets together so that we could wear them around, as we love to wear Christian apparel to boldly show our faith in Jesus. These can be a great conversation starter, as people who may like the clothing and see it could possibly be wanting to ask about the message, and it opens the opportunity to preach the Gospel or share with people who Jesus is and how He has changed our lives. This is also part in parcel with us growing in boldness for Jesus and the assignments we know God has got for us, leading us to do these with success. There is power when two or three are gathered in Jesus Name. (Matthew 18:20). We will be making moves for the Kingdom. The discipleship has now grown into a partnership and this is a truly amazing and great thing for us.
We choose and trust in God always and walk in and keep the character of Christ.
